CHADOR

The song 'Chador' stands as a compelling exploration by the Iranian artist Pari Eskandari of the struggle of women in Iran.

 

Launched in September 2023 under Tricky's label, False Idols, the release serves as a poignant commemoration of the first anniversary of the death of Mahsa Amini, a 22-year-old Iranian whose death became the catalyst for protests against stringent dress codes and the regime in Iran.

Accompanying this release is a visually striking video portraying a female initiation ritual, a form of expression that, in Pari's words, "transcends women from the commonplace to the sublime" through dance. As she elaborates, "This piece is a tribute to the women in Iran who courageously risk their lives every day."

 

The music video was shot over two days at MONOPOL in Berlin. BLACK CORRIDOR produced this non-profit project in support of a greater cause. Our dedicated team worked voluntarily, also supported by our external partners such as VANTAGE, KAMERA LUDWIG or OKAY STUDIOS.
